The Dog Park

As I was walking my dog this morning, I watched the cars pulling into the dog park across the street. I smiled as a truck drove by with a dog barking incessantly as the truck drew closer to the park. His barking made me laugh out loud because I could feel the excitement of this dog – he certainly knew where they were heading! It is not an unusual occurrence. I hear dogs barking and jumping excitedly all the time as their owners drive up to the park.
I smiled as I thought how great it was that these people love and take care of their dogs so much. We all love our pets, don’t we? We cater to them. We get up early for them. We do things for them that they love. We cuddle with them. They are the focus of our photos and attention.

Then it hit me….
Too bad people can’t treat other people the same way.
Has our world really sunk so low that we value the lives of animals over the lives of people?
This is the book of the generations of Adam. In the day when God created man, He made him in the likeness of God. He created them male and female, and He blessed  them and named them Man in the day when they were created. (Gen. 5:1-2)
We cry over the terrible tragedies of abused animals that are abandoned, violated, and killed in high-kill shelters. Many cry out for the ethical treatment of animals (and I certainly agree that we are to treat them all with dignity and kindness) BUT our nation RAGES against and MURDERS it’s own people in so many ways (not just ongoing attacks but millions and millions of abortions).
Why all the rage right now? Unhealed wounds.
We must stop allowing satan and his PUNY minions to whisper the lies of offense, bitterness, and hatred into our ears!
And these signs will accompany those who have believed; in My name they will cast out demons… (Mark 16:17)
In the last time there shall be mockers, following after their own ungodly lusts. These are the ones who cause divisions, worldly-minded, devoid of the Spirit. (Jude)
When we accept that GOD IS, and you truly understand His LOVE for you, then you can look at other people and see the love God has for them. See God’s love for you with the eyes of your heart. Let the acceptance of His love for us heal our wounds. Every time we respond in anger we rip open old wounds and create even more.
…keep yourselves in the love of God… (Jude)
Let’s go out of our way to make sure that the people we come in contact with every day are loved and cared for, even if we don’t like them or we know they don’t like us.
Do nothing from selfishness or empty conceit, but with humility of mind let each of you regard one another as more important than yourself; do not merely look out for your own personal interest, but also for the interests of others. (Phil. 2:3-4)
Let’s not wait around for someone to show us kindness and love – let’s go do it first!! (DO unto others AS YOU would have THEM DO TO YOU.)
Therefore, however you want people to treat you, so treat them… (Matthew 7:12)
Go and be blessed today. And whenever you snuggle up and love on your pet and you feel that smile come across your face because you love that pet so much and would do anything for it, think of something you can do to make someone feel special and loved….then do it! Even a nice text, note, or bringing them something. Or a simple, “I hope you are having a good day. I was thinking of you.” How would it make you feel if someone told you that you were on their mind?!
Sticky note with text you are amazing
Send a quick note of encouragement or that you are thinking of them.
Kindness is the best way to heal open wounds.
